The Japanese word MA describes the negative space - the space between two structural parts. I find the idea of negative space created by the existence of a physical form to be extremely poetic and beautiful. The subtle elegance of the changes in curves and shapes of the chair shows itself through time and brings awareness of the unseen negative spaces around the form.
The beech wood frame was milled using CNC tool and the plywood seat was bent by hand.
